At the end of July, an opportunity to hold a car show in Auburn, WA came to our attention. With a little over a month to organize and promote the show, it was unknown how large it was going to be. Our main sponsor, Top Food and Drug on Auburn Way, was willing to let us use a good portion of their lot for most of the day which meant that 150 spots were available for car show participants.

By the Thursday before the show, all 150 spots were filled by online registrations.

The Auburn Way Import Auto Show was held on August 25, 2012. Our primary goal for the show was to not only organize a great event but help raise money for a local charity in Auburn. All of the proceeds from the raffle we held during the event went to Childhaven which is a school for neglected and abused children. With the help of everyone at the show, we managed to raise $500 for the charity!

DJ Lil Shonn and DJ Nug kept the crowd entertained throughout the day with various competitions. They also set up an RC drift course in front of their tent.

In all, there were 18 first place awards and 13 second place awards. The winners of these awards were picked by everyone that entered in the show. All 150 competitors chose their favorite car in each category with a voting card. We also had a first and second place award for Best Team Representation which was based solely on pre-registrations.

Matt created ImportMeet.com in 2011 after noticing a lack of media websites dedicated exclusively to import cars. Although he's employed as an engineer and has no formal training in journalism, his skills continue to develop as the editor for the site. He enjoys writing feature car articles, technical build/project articles, and organizing events. Matt drives a 2023 Honda Civic Type R and a 1990 LS-swapped Mazda RX-7.
