Matt created ImportMeet.com in 2011 after noticing a lack of media websites dedicated exclusively to import cars. Although he's employed as an engineer and has no formal training in journalism, his skills continue to develop as the editor for the site. He enjoys writing feature car articles, technical build/project articles, and organizing events. Matt drives a 2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road and a 1990 LS-swapped Mazda RX-7.

What an interesting couple of years we have all had. The last Honda Expo we were able to host was in August 2019 which feels like forever ago. Going into this year there were many hurdles when it came to securing a venue, so we decided to reach out to Evergreen Speedway because of our longstanding relationship and try to put something together. The car show paired with the on-track activities was a lot of fun and we think this has a lot of potential for years to come! Photos by Brady Gunderson. Text by Matt Haugness. One of the…

By June things were starting to seem as normal as they could in these times. 2021 has still been a weird year to host events with ever-changing guidelines and special hurdles at venues. Despite these challenges and rain in the weather forecast we had a full car show and a solid list of drifters signed up to have some fun at our first peak season event of the year. Photos by Kenny B. Honda Expo moved to Bellevue College this year and even though it wasn’t my first time holding this type of event (Acura of Lynnwood in 2018 was) it sure felt like it from a planning standpoint! This was a brand new venue and location for the team that required careful planning with the City of Bellevue and the events staff at Bellvue College. Photos by Brady Gunderson and Kenny B. Text by Matt Haugness. What you may not know about me is that I’ve been a big fan of Honda vehicles for nearly 20 years. I’ve owned or built multiple…

As you may have heard, we are changing venues for the season opener this year. After the disaster that was SpringFest Seattle 2018 at Wild Waves in Federal Way we figured the only thing we could do was go big or to stop hosting these events. Mike (StanceWars) and I had a meeting right after the event and decided that Pacific Raceways was the only venue that can handle the huge number of cars and spectators properly. We know there are questions and we’ll try to answer them below. SpringFest Seattle 2019 is March 2, 2019 at Pacific…

Our DriftCon event series continues to grow year after year! DriftCon Afterdark was held on September 29, 2018 and I can happily say that we lucked out with the weather. Last year was an absolute disaster with a heavy rainstorm that affected many aspects of the event. Another record attendance event and we would like to thank the PNW for their continued support! https://youtu.be/8mAafLNUiIw Photos by Eric Schofhauser, Michael Ericson, and Eddi Hughes. Sunday, August 19, 2018 was our first ever Honda Expo. Held at Acura of Lynnwood, this was the final Honda and Acura exclusive event of the season in the NW. Photos by Brady Gunderson and Kenny B. Text by Matt Haugness. Nearly 100 cars attended Honda Expo. In the past the Acura of Lynnwood Import Meet was open to all makes and models. The number of cars that registered was similar to previous years despite it being Honda and Acura only. A huge number of new CTR’s were present with a good selection of just about every other make offered.…
