Honda Restarts R&D on Next Generation NSX

Although slightly delayed news, Autoblog reports that Honda has restarted the development to the successor to one of the most highly regarded import vehicles, the NSX.  R&D was stopped in 2008 during the global economic downturn in an effort to stay profitable.  Honda Racing has been using its prototype HSV-10 GT in Super GT in Japan since 2008.  They stopped using the previous generation NSX because of a change to Super GT rules which would not allow mid engine vehicles.

The HSV-10 GT has performed fairly well using Honda's high-revving V8 producing approximately 500 hp.  If the production car sounds anywhere near as amazing as the video below, we are all in for a treat.  Let's all hope that they can hit a price target closer to the GT-R and not the LFA.  Details are still sparse, but the odds of the production model containing a V8 are very high.  To compete with modern rivals, Honda has to take the next step in its sports car heritage.  There is also a real possibility that the car may introduce a gas-electric hybrid which would also be very exciting.  Stay tuned, as Import Meet is following the news regarding the next NSX very closely.

Matt created ImportMeet.com in 2011 after noticing a lack of media websites dedicated exclusively to import cars. Although he's employed as an engineer and has no formal training in journalism, his skills continue to develop as the editor for the site. He enjoys writing feature car articles, technical build/project articles, and organizing events. Matt drives a 2023 Honda Civic Type R and a 1990 LS-swapped Mazda RX-7.

Great looking car! Sounds mean. I really hope Honda is able to release this in the next few years…
