Below you will find brief introductions to the people judging the subjective events in the 2014 Import Meet Street Car Competition.

Ride Quality Judge – Valeria Boo

For the 2014 IMSCC, the best overall ride quality will be determined by Valeria Boo. She will go for a ride in each of the cars and decide which car is the most comfortable and practical.

Name: Valeria Boo
Nicknames: Val, Boo
Nationality: Bolivian, German, Brazilian
Location: Seattle, WA
Facebook Page: Valeria Boo
Instagram: @valeriaobey

ImportMeet.com: What is your primary occupation?
Valeria Boo: Barista! I can make any type of coffee you can ask for. 🙂

IM: What do you like to do in your spare time?
VB: I love spending my time under a car! I also enjoy listening to music and relaxing in the sun.

IM: Describe your ideal guy?
VB: Smart! He has to have some knowledge, be tall, have a cute smile, and be able to make me laugh. And of course be well-mannered.

IM: What is your perfect date?
VB: Old school dates. A classic one like going to a drive in movie under the moon light. I like dates that have more thought than money put into them.

IM: What is your dream car?
VB: McLaren P1

IM: What is the most important aspect in a guy’s car (looks, performance, sound, comfort, etc?)
VB: What’s under the hood. I prefer performance over looks. I don’t care how loud it is but if it’s not running well then I’m not a fan.

Build Quality Judges – Kelly Campbell (Achtuning) & Steve Ishii (Ishii Motor Industries)

Kelly Campbell returns as one of our build quality judges for 2014. Kelly works as a service manager at Achtuning in Redmond, WA. Achtuning is one of the nicest shops in the NW and specializes in Volkswagen/Audi performance and service.

Visit Achtuning’s website.

A new build quality judge this year is Steve Ishii from Ishii Motor Industries in Bellevue, WA. Ishii Motor Industries started in 2010 and has been focused on upgrading and maintaining high performance modified vehicles.

Steve personally built Stu Hagen’s Toyota Supra that ended up winning the build quality category last year along with the entire competition. Steve has been a big supporter of the IMSCC and we’re happy to have him on board this year.

Car Show Judge – John Schommer – Content Creator for ForzaMotorsport.net

John Schommer writes racing and car culture stories for ForzaMotorsport.net. If you look at any of the car descriptions for the cars in the Forza Motorsport or Forza Horizon games chances are John researched and wrote them. In the Forza community he is known as johniwanna. He has owned more than 75 cars and attends many of the local car shows from all genres.

Matt created ImportMeet.com in 2011 after noticing a lack of media websites dedicated exclusively to import cars. Although he's employed as an engineer and has no formal training in journalism, his skills continue to develop as the editor for the site. He enjoys writing feature car articles, technical build/project articles, and organizing events. Matt drives a 2023 Honda Civic Type R and a 1990 LS-swapped Mazda RX-7.
