Do You Want to Be the First to Own a Scion FR-S?

Many enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the release of the Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ in the United States. Scion has an interesting contest to make sure that the most devoted fans have the first chance of buying an FR-S prior to the official launch day. On January 12th from 12:00pm to 8:06pm EST potential buyers can place a purchase request for the FR-S on www.scionfirst86.com. By picking their desired color and transmission in the 8 hour and 6 minute long window, these contestants will have a chance of being one of the first 86 owners of the FR-S in the entire United States.

This is an exciting spin on the normal waitlist process that many new models have. If you’re planning on buying one of these cars, make sure to pick your color and transmission on the 12th to increase your chances of getting one prior to launch day.

Nope, I’d rather NOT be an owner of this car. Do the homework and see what these cars are considered in Japan. It’s ANOTHER car with no original design. “le sigh”

(if it was given to me for free, I’d thrash the sh!t out of it)

Perhaps in Japan, but in America we have almost no decent options in this market that aren’t a minimum of 5-10 years old

Options as in oem or aftermarket?

Unfortunately yes, Japan has the “cooler” options vs. the U.S. market.

Even if you don’t care for the car, you can appreciate what Subaru and Toyota/Scion are doing for the industry. I’m excited to see what other models are available in 3-5 years.

I’d personally love to have one. It’s one of the few cars I would replace my S2000 with.

Don’t get me wrong I think it’s great that (some) car companies are trying to put the “fun” in cars. Again, trying. Many of these current concept / released cars ALL have the same design. The driving part has especially been taken away; electrical this, electrical that. People like to “tune” and “tinker” with their own cars, if it’s too technical, the fun is taken away. Car companies need to go back to their roots; namely Nissan & Honda, for example.

I think this is going to be a big deal, we need something in this part of the market- it’ll sell very well

“this part of the market” – as in RWD cars for the mad-tight drifters? :^P Or market meaning what? I ask cuz’ some cars are full of technology extras; and ‘that’ works for them. What market or people is this company trying to achieve?
