Import Meet Drag Racing Night – Mission Raceway – August 26, 2011

Since some of our members are avid drag racers, we thought we would try and organize a large group for drag racing on the last Friday of August.

August 26th 2011
Pre-Meet – Food Pavilion (behind McDonalds/Dairy Queen)
8130 Guide Meridian Rd
Lynden, WA 98264
Meet at 4:00 PM – Leave at 4:30 PM

Please PM Matt, v8rx7guy, or Quicksilver_s14 if you have any questions.

What's the plan?
To meet in Lynden, WA and cross into Canada at the Sumas border crossing. Please come to the pre-meet with a tank full of gas and ready to leave.  We will leave Lynden at 4:30 and race at Mission until 9:00 PM.  After we finish racing, we plan on having dinner together as a group.  Before we leave from the pre-meet, we will take a head count of who will be joining us for dinner afterwards and make reservations before we leave.  The restaurant is to be determined, but most groups typically go to Boston Pizza in Mission or Abbotsford.

Why should I come?
This won't be your typical Mission night.  The goal is to have both veteran drag racers and newbie drag racers at this event (myself included in the newbie group).  More experienced drivers are encouraged to share tips with newer drivers on how they can improve their times.  To make this an even better night, each car/driver will also be recognized in a blog post after the event in the following categories:

  • Most improved time for the day
  • Best reaction time of the day
  • Fastest time of the day
  • Best 60' of the day (if the same person as "Fastest time for the day" the next best 60' will win this award)

Hold onto your time slips after each race as the awards will be presented before we leave the track at 9:00 PM.  To qualify for any of these awards you must be a member on Import Meet and you must RSVP in this forum thread.  If you can't make the pre-meet but you still plan on attending, please let us know ahead of time.

We also have a forum thread that is maintained by v8rx7guy with the fastest sport compacts on Import Meet here:  https://www.importmeet.com/mission

Be sure and add your car to the list if you haven't already.

Who's invited?
All makes and models are welcome to come, but the primary focus will be on Asian import cars.  We also encourage you to tell your family and friends who may not be into drag racing to come support you at the track.  You don't have to be a member of the site to be present, but we would prefer an RSVP in this forum thread if you are planning on attending.  You are NOT welcome to come if you drive like a jackass or will make the group look bad in public on the way to or from the track.  If you burnout, rev, race, or perform any other sort of horseplay with your vehicle, you will be asked to leave.  Speeding is not endorsed and it would be preferred if everyone would drive responsibly.

How much does it cost to drive, watch and park?
Driver: $35.00 per person
Spectator / Crew: $5.00 per person
Children 12 and under always FREE with an adult
Parking always FREE (No spectators are permitted to park in the Pit area.)

All prices are in Canadian.

How should I prepare?
Please read the rules and make sure your call will pass tech inspection:  http://www.missionraceway.com/rules

If you have any other questions on how to prepare your car, go ahead and discuss it in our Official Mission Raceway Discussion Thread.

Special thanks to v8rx7guy and Quicksilver_s14 for helping plan this event!

Please PM Matt, v8rx7guy, or Quicksilver_s14 if you have any questions.
